CAROLINA WREN IN SEARCH OF DINNER

April Fools Day 2014 and it’s not very funny

I received this cute birdhouse that was covered in birdseed  as a gift from my daughter.  When I hung it up, it didn’t take long for the birds to find the new food source.  This Carolina Wren was especially pleased to fill her belly and would return frequently.

She was even willing, though maybe reluctantly, to share. But sadly, the starling told many of his relatives about the food house and before long……..

the house was picked clean. When the Carolina Wren returned for an easy meal, she was not at all happy. I’m confident that if she had had a lower lip, it would have been sticking out.

After searching all around the house, this little bird looked even more perplexed as to what happened to all of the food until…..

finally she just couldn’t take it anymore and had a pitiful break down.

There were other backyard options for her to try and she made the rounds that afternoon to all of them….

….just didn’t necessarily enjoy them. Then she was gone. A true story.

And to think that someone introduced starlings to the USA! That’s a wonderful documentary. I hope you will be able to share it with one of the nature magazines.
